The Teutonic order was initially a field hospital founded in the Holy Land, in front of the walls of Saint-Jean-d'Acre, during the siege of the city at the beginning of the third crusade in 1190 by Germanic pilgrims. Originally a simple charitable religious community helping sick Christian pilgrims at this hospital, it was reorganized into a military order and recognized as a hospital order in 1191. It is composed mainly of German knights, Teutons.

The tabard is a kind of overcoat that was weared in the Middle Ages over the armor. It served above all to show his coat of arms and his colors. The first tabards are tunics painted or formed of an assemblage of pieces of fabric of a tubular form, often devoid of sleeves.

The clothing of the Teutonic Knights was, as for the Knights Templar, a white cloak with a black cross (not red). Some units of knights wore ornate helmets to terrify their rivals. The black cross on a white background is the symbol of Christ's victory over the powers of darkness and death.

For the Teutonic brothers the chasuble will be white and the cross will be black, ranging in length from 110cm (43 ") to 120cm (47") and reaching the knees, it is split at four points (front, back and sides) to offer you greater ease during your travels.

With this Cœur de Mithril’s tabard, you have no more excuses to join the order!
